Appearance
Sasha is a very beautiful natural redhead with stunning blue-grey eyes. She stands about average height, but her noble and elegant bearing, combined with her athletic physique, cut an impressive figure that makes her seem larger than life. Sasha has no specific signature outfit, but most of the time can be found wearing a smart suit or short dress, always of designer make, which look smart and accentuate her appearance in a glamorous and elegant way. Even when she wears casual clothing such as jeans and t-shirts, these will invariably be of renown makes too. When anticipating trouble, she is more likely to be found wearing jeans or sports clothing, favouring sports bras or t-shirts for their uninhibiting flexibility. These are invariably also from renown companies.
Background
Sasha was born into the wealthy Kavannagh family near the end of the second World War. She never really knew her father, a decorated military officer, as he was declared missing in combat, and presumed dead, in the last weeks of the war. Sasha was home schooled in her early days until her mother enrolled her into boarding school, where Sasha enjoyed the company of other children her age. Sasha found she excelled at physical activities and in sporting activities was always top in her class, winning various archery and fencing tournaments, and a respected natural leader and team captain.
During the summer months when she was not at school she spent her time on the family estate. Many summers her aunt, a striking, dark-haired woman, would come around for some time. "Aunt Morrie" seemed to share Sasha's interests in archery and fencing, and the martial arts in general. Although she could be harsh, Sasha has no doubt that her aunt's tutelage helped her take her abilities to the level where she won an Olympic gold medal in fencing.
Whilst a career as a professional athlete was certainly a possibility, that did not fill the void Sasha felt within. It was not her calling. After finishing high school she spent a few years travelling around, seeing the world, enjoying and trying to find herself. Going to the best clubs, visiting museums and going on occasional hunts. Wondering what to do with herself she decided to return home and join the Cumann na mBan, the Irish republican women's paramilitary organisation that was an auxiliary of the Irish Republican Army. Ever since she was a little girl she had always looked up to the soldiers in Cork, and the memory of her father dying in the war to defend his homeland inspired her. She soon found that defending people seemed to fill that void she'd always felt - she realised that protecting people seemed to be her calling. When the Irish Defence Force allowed women to join in 1979, Sasha was one of their first members, and with pride became one of the first female Irish soldiers to serve in the United Nations Peacekeeping program.
After a year working as a peacekeeper, guarding essential medical and supply convoys, and supporting law enforcement, she was approaced by a man. To her surprise it was her father. After her initial surprise and confusion, he explained who he really was, explaining why he had to leave when she was young and, by extension, who she was. He stated that she had proven herself to exemplify the virtues of the Tuatha Dé Dannan and told her that she would play a part in the war of the gods. He also revealed to her that aunt Morrie was in fact a fellow god, the goddess of war, and had been training her at his bequest. The Morrigan had been impressed with Sasha during her training, and provided him a birthright gift for her - a black compound bow. This bow, which she named Farseer, had special powers; it would never run out of arrows. He also provided her further gifts, including a special pendant attuned to her that would allow her to tap into the power in her divine ichor. He told her as she grew in power she would find herself learning new abilities.
Over the next few years Sasha kept an ear open for anything out of the ordinary, and occasionally did tasks requested by her father (and on occasion, the Morrigan). On one occasion she noticed a strange man of asian descent looking at her and felt something odd about him. Deciding she wanted to get to know him, Sasha introduced herself, having always been confident as she was a very beautiful woman who never found it hard to meet men and; this was no different. They found out they were both Scions, with him being of the Amatsukami (Japanese pantheon) and a Scion of Hachiman. Jonathan Lin, as the other Scion was called, was a war correspondent reporting on the activities of the United Nations, but also secretly investigating and dealing with suspected Titanspawn activity. Sasha was impressed by his predominant relic, an elegant and deadly Katana, that he could convert into a gold pen. He would joke "the pen IS as mighty as the sword." They worked together on and off whenever either suspected something strange, and together took down several titanspawn and helped protect the innocent. Jonathan always kept more of a distance from Mortals, however, and told her she should think about distancing herself as well as working with mortals could be dangerous as they could be drawn by Fate into Sasha's fights.
This all became abundantly clear a couple of weeks later during a routine supply run. The convoy was hit by a group of Titanspawn and everyone except Sasha was killed before two of them retreated. Sasha let them believe they had escaped with the intent of tracking them to their hideout, believing there would be more and wanting to eliminate the threat. She was correct, and taking them by surprise took them out with her bow, but the sweet taste of victory was short-lived; Sasha found the mutilated body of Jonathan within the nest.
Figuring Jonathan had tracked the Titanspawn to their lair, but being discovered and outmatched before he could seek help, Sasha decided the only thing she could do to honour her fallen friend and comrade-in-arms was to take his body back to his family so he could be buried according to their traditions (something she learnt as a Scion was usually very important). After the funeral when she was alone Jonathan's spirit appeared to her. He told her that she'd honoured his spirit by returning his body, and rather than have his katana be appropriated and given to someone less worthy, asked that Sasha keep it and use it to help protect those in need and take the war to the Titans. Sasha vowed she would.
Sasha left the U.N. and the Irish Defence Force shortly after, and since then has worked on her own, determined not to bring mortals into this fight unwittingly again.
Birthrights
- Farseer: This black compound bow was a gift from the Morrigan. It is an extremely fast-firing and accurate weapon that automatically recreates a new arrow in the 3-arrow side holder faster than Sasha is able to run out. The arrows are replenished when Sasha fires them, and are not transferable to others.
- Rittersteel: This appears as an elegant gold pen that when activated turns into an elegant Katana. It was a keepsake from an old friend of Sasha's of the Amatsukami. In addition to being an enhanced Katana, it allows Sasha to access the War purview.
- Scales of Justice Pendant: A gold pendant worn on a chain depicting the scales of justice on one side and celtic runes for protection on the reverse, allowing her to access the Justice and Guardian purviews.
- Rebecca Donovan: Rebecca is a homicide detective for the Los Angeles Police Department and is both Rebecca's flatmate and the house owner. They met at the local shooting club where Sasha instructs part-time, and became fast friends. Recent events has Fatebound Rebecca to Sasha and made her aware of the existence of Scions and Titanspawn, and Rebecca is now serving as a guide for Sasha.
