Thalia describes her background as being fairly simple. Although her divine parent, Aglaia (goddess of spleandor, natural beauty, glory and adornment) is married to Hephaestus, both of them come to the Mortal World periodically to create scions in order to continue their legacy and influence the Mortal World. Thalia was born from this most recent dalliance. She spent most of her formative years being raised in private boarding schools in Los Angeles, Athens and in Paris, where she lived a while; each time under the custodianship of either her mother (Los Angeles) or an aunt (aunt Thalia in Athens, and aunt Euphrosyne in Paris) who would regularly visit in mortal guise. She was, however, unaware of her scion heritage even when at 14, she was introduced to her older step-sister [[Cassandra Sands|Cassandra Sands]], a scion of Hephaestus, who remained her legal guardian, carer and "big sister" until she was old enough to be legally emancipated. Thalia and Cassie, both only children (from their perspectives) and raised principally in boarding schools with relatively absent parents, both found themselves overjoyed to have a sibling. They found much common ground in an interest in culture and love for art. Cassie excelled in "practical arts" involving sculpting or creating things of beauty with practical applications, whilst Thalia excelled in art for its own sake, particularly the performance arts; she was a gifted singer and dancer, in addition to a natural artist. They became best friends as well as sisters, and they are close to this day. | [[Image:Dodekatheon_-_Thalia_Winters_-_Scion_of_Aglaia_2.jpg|left|60%|thumb|Thalia Winters - Scion of Aglaia]]Thalia describes her background as being fairly simple. Thalia's visitation came during senior prom. At first Cassie spoke to Thalia about the truth of her heritage (Thalia had already began to suspect something - noticing Cassie's lack of aging) and then shortly before prom Aglaia and Hephaestus presented her the perfect little black dress for prom night, and a stunning necklace to go with it - as well as giving her a striking tattoo (see Birthrights). After her visitation, Thalia's natural beauty and charisma elevated to divine levels, and she quickly mastered the ability to alter aspect of her appearance as well as to create her own clothing from her divine ichor, an ability that her relic dress empowers to make effortless for her. Cassie has the same abilities (and Cassandra's relic lingerie grants her much the same enhancement to this as Thalia's "Little Black Dress") and many assume that Cassie, as the older step-sibling, taught Thalia this divine ability. In fact, the reverse is true - Thalia having naturally inherited it from her divine parent, but having taught the fashion-ignorant Cassie the ability so that she would always have something appropriate to wear. It goes without saying, that Thalia is far more proficient with this ability than Cassie, able to take the ability to change her appearance to greater degrees, and having a much better eye for fashion (Cassie has an eye for aesthetics, but not fashion, whilst Thalia could making a living as a fashion consultant). | Thalia's visitation came during senior prom. Appearance
Thalia is the consummate "cute girl next door." She looks like someone about to graduate from high school, yet somehow old enough (or young enough) for any situation. She has a curvy figure that some might argue may make her "just a little over-heavy" but this only adds to her charm and gives recollection of Greco-roman artwork, where the classic representation of feminine beauty were curvy women not like the skinnier fashion models of the modern day. Whilst a room of people may argue that some woman or another may be the most attractive, personal styles will make one person's beauty be another person's "meh" - but all would universally agree Thalia is "adorably cute, very pretty and sweet." She had chestnut-brown hair and brown eyes, and full lips that seem to add to her charisma and prettiness - especially when she smiles (and it is rare to see her not smiling - she seems to have a whole retinue of different smiles, happy smiles, wistful smiles, sympathetic smiles...). She generally wears her hair loose, but occasionally ties it up into pigtails or some other manner, usually fashionable, and usually when going to some occasion; and favours designer dresses (her signature dress being her "Little Black Dress"), and elegant gowns for formal occasions. She usually wears fairly light make-up, with some eye shadow and lipstick as main adornment.
As Thalia is able to change aspects of her appearance - eye/hair colour, hair length, etc... when desired, including creating or modifying her clothing (see "Little Black Dress" relic in Birthrights section), these are subject to change at a whim, with Thalia as likely to be seen with blonde, black or "dyed red" hair colour at any moment (she sometimes changes her hair colour to best match her clothing), and usually changing her clothing several times a day (she is subtle about this, restricting hair colour changes to every few days, and clothing changes to after an appropriate "went for a quick change" duration).
Background
Thalia describes her background as being fairly simple. Although her divine parent, Aglaia (goddess of spleandor, natural beauty, glory and adornment) is married to Hephaestus, both of them come to the Mortal World periodically to create scions in order to continue their legacy and influence the Mortal World.
Thalia works as an entertainer, primarily in vocal entertainment and dance, though she dabbles in almost any artistic area. She regularly belly dances at Papa Cristo's "Big Fat Greek Thursday Dinner" which is also her favourite restaurant; sings at various lounges in Los Angeles, Weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and other social events; she even has done a few minor acting roles (whether she is avoiding mega-stardom, or has simply not had the break is unclear), and is becoming quite renown as a vocal actress - having lent her voice to various computer games (Guild Wars 2, ironically vocalising a character called "Cassie", Fintal Fantasy XIII-2) and animated tv programs/movie (Sofia the First, as the titular character, a role she's been doing for 3 years to date and possibly her primary source of income). On occasion she can be found with various musical theatre troupes or with the band WickedSweet, who she often drafts as her support band when she is hired to play at events and there is no house band. She is as likely to be found singing for a children's party as she is a gala event.
Birthrights
Most of Thalias relics were created by her divine mother, or gifted by her divide step-father Hephaestus, and reflect their shared interests. Hephaestus provided her with a necklace he crafted himself for her as a birthday/visitation gift, whilst her other relics were drawn or created by Aglaia herself (although Hephaestus provided the divine material for Thalia's relic dress):
- Three Graces Tattoo: Thalia has a large tattoo on her right thigh of three beautiful female faces, each with a different flower. These are the Three Graces of mythology, her divine mother (Aglaia) and aunts (Thalia - after who she is named, and Euphrosyne). The tattoo allows Thalia to access the Fertility and Sound purviews, empowers aspects of her Epic Appearance, and allows her to (like her mother/aunts) serve as a muse for others; with an appropriate gesture (usually a kiss on the cheek or similar sign of affection) Thalia can inspire others, granting them enhancements to certain abilities for a period.
- Little Black Dress: This dress is modelled on the famous Givenchy dress worn by Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and enhances some aspects of Thalia's Epic Appearance knacks. Additionally, it is made out of a special divine satin sheathe that looks every bit as glamorous and soft as it appears, but is actually more resilient than kevlar weave.
- Tiffany Soleste Necklace: A gift from Hephaestus, this elegant platinum necklace is adorned with a blue aquamarine and diamond pendant in the shape of a water drop and allows Thalia to access the Water purview.
