Thalassino Nero (Scion)

Vital Stats

Background

Thalassino Nero - Scion of Poseidon

Born Dylan Brine to a wealthy family who reared horses near Tenby, Dylan new little about father except that he was a Naval Officer. From a young age he found himself drawn to the sea and with a natural affinity for horses. He joined the Royal Navy and excelled, eventually becoming XO of the HMS Thunder Child. On a pirate-hunting operation in Somalia they run afoul of a mine and began taking on water. Dylan helped saved various lives evacuating wounded from the damaged area and sealed himself into the room before activating the pumps. As his sight faded, he saw a beautiful lady swimming towards him... and awoke on a beach.

The Lady explained his heritage to him, saying that his father was the god Poseidon and she gave him his birthrights. He did not believe her, of course, and ignored her advice to leave the navy. For his actions he was promoted to Commander and became the Captain of the Thunder Child. Months later, the ship was boarded by scaled creatures that killed the entire crew and destroyed the ship, leaving him for dead. Once again the Lady appeared and took him to safety, explaining that he could hide, but Fate would find him - and that the fated around him would suffer. Dylan changed his name to Thalassino Nero and following The Lady's advice moved to America, where he's been involved in oceanic protection measures and other endeavours at the request of his father.

Birthrights

Thalassino has remained in contact with The Lady, who serves as a guide for him - often serving as an intermediary between Thalassino and his typically-absent father.

The Lady mystically placed a tattoo of waves on his arm (to access the Water purview), which grants him the ability to see in pitch darkness such as that of the ocean depths. The tattoo animates and shows breaking and crashing waves when Thalassino accesses the Water Purview.

Thalassino was also gifted with Caledfwich, a trident that can change into a simple fish fork on command and when dipped into a pool of natural water can be used to summon The Lady. This is accompanied by Golden Scale armour, which never rusts or corrodes due to natural water corrosion. Its lightness and special metallic composition grants greater protection and mobility than would be expected (including no movement penalties in water).

On a rare subsequent visitation by his father, he was presented with a ring bearing the image of a horseshoe (to allow access to the Animal Purview) and a golden horseshoe, which allows Thalassino to summon Poseidon's personal Pegasus to assist him.

Divine Relations

Triton - Thalassino has been visited on one occasion by Poseidon's son Triton, an ascended Scion merman who is therefore Thalassino's half-brother. Poseidon usually employs Triton to contact his Scions, so Thalassino has seen him more often than his actual father.

Joan Davis - Whilst he has not yet met her, Thalassino has nonetheless been made aware by Triton and The Lady that he has a younger half-sister called Joan Davis, an Oceanographer who received her visitation after Thalassino. She operates on the California coastline, usually on ships.
