Appearance

Garou-Stephanie Wolfthorn 1.jpg

Stephanie appears physically younger than she really is due to an early life of extreme attention to health and fitness as a professional athlete, and she still maintains a form that clearly shows a woman in her physical prime who carries out intensive daily training. She is attractive with an elegant bearing, with luscious platinum-blonde hair and piercing blue-grey eyes. When casual she prefers comfortable, loose clothing (which can accommodate Glabro form without requiring the Rite of Talisman Dedication) or sports clothing (a kickback to her athlete days as well as practical for her various exercise regimes). When requiring more formality, she favours graceful/regal dresses or sharp suits - almost always of expensive makes (though she rarely buys her own clothing).

In Lupus form, her pure breed becomes even more obvious. She appears as a magnificent-looking lupus with a silver coat that inspires thoughts of the first Silver Fang lords themselves.

Background

Stephanie was naturally athletic from an early age and was being groomed for a career as a professional figure skater. At one time she was even a potential the olympic Candidate, having won regional accolates. Before she could make the big time, however, some kinfolk of House Austere Howl (to which her family belonged), were found to have dealings with the Hellfire club and House Gleaming Eye led the charge against the "wyrm-corrupted" house. Although her family had no direct knowledge of Garou affairs, Lord Elias Iceclaw of House Gleaming Eye saw this as his opportunity and had the house tried in the Sept in an emergency council (and they were found guilty, since the entire house had been found guilty by the Silver Fangs as a whole). Not only where the House Garou slaughtered by the sept, but he led the charge to slaughter their Kinfolk too. Attacking Stephanie's family during a figure skating competition. The only reason Stephanie was not slaughtered along with her family was due to the intervention of a coterie of vampires. The stress of her family's slaughter (as well as many innocents caught in the crossfire) triggered the 15 year old's First Change. The vampires took her to safety once she calmed down and did what they could for her, but they were not Garou and so much of Stephanie's early Garou life was ill-informed. One vampire in particular, who's own mortal family had also been slaughtered by political rivals when she was a young mortal, related to her and took her under her wing. She taught her her how to be strong and how to fight, learning an ancient vampire art of fighting with Fang and Claw for best effect - rare even amongst the vampires.

Her vampire carers eventually managed to introduce Stephanie back to her own people via some Children of Gaia. Not only did the young Garou not get justice for her family, but they actually put her on trial for Wyrm-corruption. She was put on trial instead of outright execution along with her House as she was defended well by a Bone Gnawer Metis Philodox (who, being an attorney, in time also helped her regain ownership of her family's estate). Convincing arguments by her advocate, that she was of exceptional pure breed and that no taint could be detected resulted in the Sept declaring that she would be allowed to live. Angered by the Sept's decision Iceclaw extended the honour of being adopted into House Gleaming Eye, but made it clear that House Austere Howl's history meant she would be little more than a breed cow. Stephanie refused and Iceclaw shamed her with the Garou name "Leech-Suckle" - a reminder that she had associated with the fanged minions of the Wyrm. After a few years of frustration, Stephanie sided with the Glass Walker/Bone Gnawer alliance that broke from the Sept of Black Wisdom and built their own Caern in Ashford, forming a splinter Sept known as the Sept of Sacrificial Friendship. In participating, the Sept of Black Wisdom (and especially her own tribe, who are loyal to it) consider her a traitor to the sept, if not the Wyld. However, as none claiming loyalty to Gaia could ever accuse one who aided in the creation of a new Caern - an act of great worth to Gaia and the Wyld, and rare in these times of corruption and growing Wyrm taint - of acting against the Garou or Gaia, however, and so whilst the spite is there on a personal and tribal level, nothing actually came about as a result of this; although the relationship between the two Garou septs is cold at best. Whilst both Septs tentatively still allow Garou from the other sept in - both treat members of the other sept very cautiously, heavily observing them and doing their best to make them feel unwelcome there. The Sept of Black Wisdom, in particularly, is more aggressive about this - and wolves from the other Sept would do well not to go there alone as "accidents happen" or they may fall foul to abuse or forced to partake in "honour duels" or similar, often unfairly matched, and should not expect justice or fairness.

Flush with the renown and new Rank these actions earnt her, Stephanie then chose to travel to the homeland of her Tribe, and for several years was accepted and functioned as a member of Clan Crescent Moon under the leadership of the new, young, progressive Queen Tamara Tvarivich from who she learnt much as she took part in the Queen's war against Baba Yaga's Zmei-led armies. Many Wyrm creatures fell to her claws, and she earnt further renown. When she was ready, Stephanie returned to her home city and used her new renown to challenge Lord Iceclaw to a Refusal duel over his murder of her family. Although he initially refused, stating he did not acknowledge her status and thus did not need to honour it, she drew a Klaive she had earned in battle against the Wyrm in Russia and branded him a coward stating that for all his bluster all he was capable of was murdering unawares Kinfolk for his own wyrm-corrupted greed and hide in the protection of a Sept he has no real power in, whilst she fought with the home tribe in a major victory against the Wyrm that staved of the apocalypse. His honour insulted, and knowing that to back off from a Klaive-draw would brand him a coward, he assaulted her. There may have been a time Iceclaw was a great warrior - but he had become arrogant and overconfident, and Stephanie bested him honorably. To add further insult to his house she then once again, publicly, renownced the Royalist-led Silver Fangs as inbred and antiquated fools, and reaffirmed her loyalty to the new Sept of Sacrificial Friendship - taking several promising young (and notably female or lupus) Silver Fangs with her, as well as taking direct control of the resources and estate that belonged to House Austere Howl and the Wolfthorn family.

Human Society

Garou-Stephanie Wolfthorn 2.jpg

Stephanie is known as being the only survivor of the Wolfthorn family and thus sole inheritor of the multi-million dollar Wolfthorn Estate. As such, she is one of the richest individuals in Ashford (if not Kern County) and owns considerable land assets. Her estate generates revenue primarily from Golf Clubs, Horse and Tennis ranches, multiple farmland (which produce citrus, olives and olive oil, and various nuts) and residential land for upper-middle and affluent residents (and some affordable housing). The Estate operates under the trade name Wolfthorn Realty which is run by Miss Lisa Savage, the CEO for the last six years, although individual assets (e.g. each estate or farm) has regional managers to oversee operations, and Lisa Savage (and Stephanie above her) oversee general direction and policy more than day-to-day management.

Since her return Stephanie is trying to make an effort to try to mix with Ashford's affluent and political crouds in order to try to use these for the benefit of the Sept (often countering Leech activities).

Other Notes

Stephanie is a respected Rising Star in the Sept. She believes that rank and leadership should be earnt by action, not accorded by gender, heritage or breeding and does not knowingly give favour or resentment to those with Pure Breed (she is subconciously affected by it to a degree as most Garou, but she actively tries to un-factor this). She knows that the war in Russia could not have been won purely by the Silver Fangs, and believes that the only way to defeat the Wyrm is for the tribes to put aside their differences and work together. As such she does not personally want to refuse to work with the Sept of Black Wisdom and considers their lack of cooperation and occasional territorial conflicts to be a shame, but she is willing to defend the smaller sept's honour to the death if need be. In the spirit of inter-tribal unity, she leads a Silver Pack known as "The Misfits" which she deliberately chooses to make a mixed pack. All members of this pack know that the newly-honournamed "Silverwrath" has views that may be considered potentially treasonous and Litany-bending (if not outright breaking) but that her aim is "Gaia First" - and so any pack member needs to be good at what they do (Rank 2 minimum, or have great potential otherwise) and be open-minded about dealing with other tribes, metis and even occasionally working with vampires. Whilst she's no fool and does not trust vampires, she knows that her own people are capable of the same evils they believe the vampires to commit, whilst many vampires are honourable and sometimes even caring - and fight the taint of the Rage Wyrm in them every minute of every night, forever. She knows most vampires would prefer to avoid (or ally with) them, and believes it is wasteful to lose valuable Garou to pointless battles with an enemy who does not wish to confront them - though like any Garou she will (and does) make her pack act against any Leech actions that actually benefit the worm (often in the form of business dealings with Pentex, or victims of Leech predations). Her Sept generally supports this stance, although it is a bit more stand-offish and conflicting with the Leeches than her own views.

Combat Style

Stephanie was taught Kibatsumejutsu by one of her Leech rescuers and has kept up the practice (though without mentor) as well as studying Kailindo whilst in Russia. She thinks tactically in most situations - having learnt (again, from her initial Leech mentor) that relying on pure rage and aggression can be fatally turned against you, and thus tries to fight with cold logic, then empowered by rage. She is equally deadly with blades (especially the Klaive or Fang Dagger) as with claws, but is not adverse to using firearms (usually when range is required or to soften up targets before moving in for the kill). Whilst she is stronger than average, Stephanie relies on her natural athleticism to dodge dangerous attacks and give quick strikes. She has numerous gifts that make her deadly in combat, especially against Black Spirals (or, as opponents argue, her own people). She has proven herself many times in combat, but to advance further in renown needs to now prove herself as a leader and talesinger as well.

Social Style

Stephanie is charming and elegant, and a natural leader. When she speaks people cannot help but listen. When she tells tales or gives speeches people feel inspired and willing to follower her into Malfeas itself. Her views, however, are not well received by traditionalists who believe she should act her pedigree. As a member of the Renewal camp, however, Stephanie believes that Garou should be treated according to their achievements - and be given the opportunities. It is easy to say that Bone Gnawers are not as good warriors as Get of Fenris when you keep the Bone Gnawer ahrouns stuck protecting low-value targets. It is easy to say Glass Walkers lack the social graces of the Shadow Lords if one is not willing to negotiate with them or attend their functions. She believe that the old ways have led to the decline of the Garou race (and by their arrogance, all the other Fera) and this is causing the Wyrm to win the war. The Garou must change if the war is to be one.

As such Stephanie is open-minded and tries not to judge anyone (though she has a notable dislike for Royalist and Grey Raptor Silver Fangs) and willing to listen, then make her own judgements and decisions. She does not see humans as "beneath" the Garou to be culled and shepherded, but that the Garou should have been protectors and guides to them. She also believes that humans will be an important swing factor in the apocalypse.

Stephanie, perhaps because she is a Galliard, is a natural linguist and can fluently speak English, German, Latin, Greek, French, Russian and Spanish, as well as a few common expressions in others. She tends to not advertise this when meeting new groups, to see if they reveal truths in native languages; but uses her linguistic ability to good effect when being diplomatic with other garou or foreign dignitaries.

Signature Equipment

  • Klaive - She obtained this Klaive whilst fighting in Russia, as a trophy from another Silver Fang who wished her ill because of her House.
  • Miguel Caballero Coat - Leather coat made by the famous custom-clothing armourer Miguel Caballero. This coat looks like a normal, high-quality coat but has padding and armoured plates in its lining, having the same protective value as a typical armoured vest, but innocuous.
  • Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6x6 G-Wagen - luxury sports SUV. Wolfthorn House is near Canyon Creek and she prefers a vehicle that is capable of driving offroad so she can operate quickly on the various back-roads, dirt tracks and across the fields and mountain ranges in her territory.

Quotes

  • "I'd rather people respect me for my deeds than my breeding; that they follow me not by decree, but because they believe in me."
