Base Model Design

The Destiny Ascendant is a heavily modified version of the S-890 Luxury Space Yacht. With an elegant, sleek exterior that belies its spacious interior, the S-890 is a true engineering marvel; crafted to impress from every angle by combining a unique, innovative design with the finest materials and the most advanced technology. The result is a vessel that is in a class all of its own.

The S-890 was a Yacht-class starship made by the prestigious Origin Jumpworks shipyard on Coruscant, a subsidiary of the SoroSuub corporation. Sharing many design ideas and components with SoroSuub's Luxury S-3000 Space Yacht, Origin Shipyards improved the design for aesthetics and greater personal luxury, whilst sharing components allowed the S-890 to maintain the reliability index of the S-3000. The S-890 was slightly longer, with a 55 meter length, but was one deck higher, allowing for more laid-out areas that were more individually spacious than possible on the S-3000. Like the S-3000, the S-890 was not a stock-built ship that could be bought in the Shipyard, but custom-fitted to cater for the individual tastes of each owner by Origin Jumpworks.

S-890 Yachts had room for 10 passengers in luxury VIP cabins (as each cabin was spacious and featured a kingsize bed the S-890 could comfortably accommodate double this number) and 2 crew in separate quarters, with approximately 100 tons of cargo space and enough consumables storage for 1 month of operation. Intended as luxury yachts for nobles or the well-to-do in, who operated typically in safe systems, or employed protective ships for defence, the S-890 as standard lacked weapons and, although it had a respectably robust hull, it's 2 Chempat-6 deflector shield generators were simply comparable with that of standard light freighters. The S-890 could handle quite well for a ship of it's size, and was quite smooth handling that gave a piloting experience that felt greater than it's actual performance index. Whilst functionally the S-890 performed much like any ship of its class, and offered amenities not unlike that of courier ships or passenger freighters, it's advanced technology and design simply made the experience much more enjoyable, smoother and more pleasurable than other ships of it's class. As typical for high-end civilian space-ships, it boasted a respectable class 2 hyperdrive, and a class 14 backup hyperdrive.

First Pilot: Aeran Zax

Zax was a Human from the planet Carrivar who's family made their fortune when the war between the Republic and the Sith Empire caused disruption with some of the major space routes, and new routes were sought by freighters and merchants. Carrivar was a planet on one such route, and the Zax family prospered with their import/exports business. Aeran Zax inherited the family business when a tragic hyperdrive accident caused a misjump too close to the Carrivar system's moon to avoid a collision. One of the first acts as business owner was for Aeran to have the S-890 built, christened "Aeran's Fire" and Aeran used it as his personal yacht for business and (mostly) to entertain guests with lavish parties.

Unfortunately Aeran Zax was an avid gambler, and managed to spend the family business' profits almost as fast as they came in. When the Sith Empire and the Republic came to a cease-fire, and traditional (and ergo cheaper) routes re-opened, the Zax business took a major blow as Carrivar suddenly lost it's appeal to traders, and Aeran had not inherited his father's business acumen. As such with depleted credit reserves and the profitable business suddenly growing in debt, and his own gambling debts not getting any smaller - it was inevitable that Aeran soon drove his family business into bankruptcy, and the Aeran's Fire was sold off.

Next Pilot: Dani Nova

A Zeltron trader called Dani Nova had recently dissolved her business and on-again-off-again romantic relationship with June Starkiller after the realisation that she was Force Sensitive, and the two realised that their lives for now needed to go in different directions. Dani took the decision to allow Jerek Tel to manage The Nova Club full-time so she could dedicate herself fully to the pursuit of learning about the ways of the Force and her own abilities; a task that necessitated travelling with her Jedi friends around the galaxy. Unfortunately the loss of June as a companion and business associate also meant losing transportation for the group. She initially thought she would have to rely on hiring the services of some pilots she knew, but Jerek Tel managed to convince her over drinks that Dani would only be happy jumping around the galaxy with her Jedi friends in her own ship, and that with a little financial squeezing, they realised she could afford a second-hand starship that would serve the group's needs. Jerek pointed her to an advert for a Corellian Light Freighter in the Galactic Gazeteer: Exchange & Mart but Dani decided that if she was to do this, she needed a ship that would reflect HER, and thus needed a ship with style. A few Holonet searches for second-hand ships later, they came across the Aeran's Fire, repossessed and being sold and located at a shipyard in Coruscant. It was a stretch, but Dani took the alcohol-influenced leap and Jerek set up the arrangements.

Dani arrived at Coruscant and rechristened the ship the "Destiny Ascendant" - a name meant to signify her own Ascendancy with the Force, and an acceptance that the Force, or Destiny, or Fate, had things in store that could not be denied. Dani had the ship polished up and installed an Autopilot Droid Brain to assist her with piloting the ship, and a single medium laser cannon on a retractable ventral turret to add some defensive capability. She also set up a T3-M4 Utility Droid ("Emfour") to assist with repairs and maintenance, and a BD-3000 Luxury Attendant Droid ("Beedee") to serve as hostess and companion on the ship.

Recent Activities

After Dani met up with her companions and explained the break-up with June, she was pleasantly surprised to find them interested in sharing this new endeavour with her. With Jiadzia's engineering knowledge and advice, they upgraded "Gideon" (the ship's Autopilot Droid Brain) to the highest technical-specifications possible, and the Hyperdrive Generator was pushed to a mighty x0.5 past light. With the help of Tessun Kel, they upgraded the single retractable turret medium laser cannon to a Quad medium laser cannon array, increasing the Destiny Ascendant's punch considerably.

Ship Features

Deck Plans

The Destiny Ascendant has three decks, each having various facilities or areas:

Top Deck

  • Main Bridge: Spacious bridge area that although only requiring one pilot, has extra couches for a co-pilot and a third person
  • Captain's Cabin: At the aft of the ship is the luxurious and spacious Captain's Cabin. Although all the cabins are luxurious, the Captain's Cabin is even more spacious and has sofas, tables and other facilities that make it an office and capable as a small conference room in addition to Dani's personal space.
  • Observation level: leading in-between the Captain's Cabin and the bridge, and stairs to the main deck is a balcony level that overlooks the main deck lounge and bottom deck entry foyer, surrounded on the sides and roof with stunning and peaceful view of the stars.

Main Deck

  • Dining Cabin: Situated directly under the main bridge at the front of the ship, the cabin is equipped with automated dispensers and a robochef kitchen, providing great food in a pleasant dining area with great view.
  • Training Room: adjacent to the dining cabin is what was formerly the crew quarters. Originally intended for crew who would have comfortable quarters, but as staff not the luxury that guests or the captain would have, it is situated in-between the dining cabin (which was designed as a staff eating area, as guests would have had personal dispensers, room service or the ability to eat in the VIP lounge). As Dani holds no distinction between "crew" and her friends, she turned the crew quarters into a dedicated training room, so the Jedi, herself and Tessun could train or exercise there.
  • VIP Lounge: Placed in a staircase-layer formation overlooking the entry foyer (to which the side staircases lead down) and under the observation level (to which the staircase leads up) the lounge is a communal area for guests to relax in a comfortable, ambient environment with excellent views and luxurious comfort couches.

Lower Deck

  • Entry Foyer: The main entrance airlock is located by this area, which situates the passenger cabins to the aft and the cargo areas to the fore, behind the staircase leading up to the VIP Lounge. The entry foyer is otherwise attractive but unremarkable, being a connecting area between places, although there are some couches available.
  • Luxury Passenger Cabins: At the aft of the ship there are 10 luxurious passenger cabins, each with a kingsize bed, tables, couches, entertainment systems, food and drink dispensers and other facilities comparable to a respectable hotel room that even those accustomed to opulence would admire.
  • Escape Pods: The ship's escape pods are situated in-between the Cabins and the Cargo Bay. Although this places them quite far from the bridge and crew quarters, it is quite telling about the intended prioritisation of the comfort and safety of the guests over the crew that the escape pods are fastest accessible by passengers over the crew.
  • Cargo Bay: Behind the stairwell leading up to the VIP Lounge is the entry to the respectably-sized cargo bay, which also contains a Loader to aid loading heavy cargo.
  • Hangar: A portion of the Cargo Bay area was specifically set up by the original owner as a place to have his airspeeders or guests' vehicles. Whilst it is not huge, is is able to comfortable hold the group's 4 Mobquet Flare-S Swoop bikes and a small ship or speeder. As a dedicated hangar, it has loading ramps to facilitate entry/exit of vehicles as well as an airship drop that would allow a starfighter or airspeeder to enter/exit the ship whilst in flight.

"Beedee" BD-3000 Luxury Attendant Droid

50%

Beedee is an attendant droid - similar in function to a Protocol droid, but designed to serve and assist owners and their guests rather than facilitate in communications. They are aesthetically pleasing, and have good knowledge banks and interpersonal skills (Presence 3, Charm 2, Negotiate 2, Knowledge [Education] 2, Perception 2) to help them make guests comfortable. BD-3000s have Rhetorical Mimic circuits which allow them to imitate their master with astounding precision (may make Charm, Deception, and Negotiation checks using the characteristics and skills of its master; such checks suffer ■ ■ due to the imperfect mimicry, and the droid does not benefit from any relevant talents that its master possesses). BD-3000s are generally human-analogue in appearance and have painted plates designed to resemble human hair and cosmetic features so as to make them more accommodating and less conspicuous than typical protocol or attendant droids . The colouration of these features can be altered by the droid (usually as part of it's mimic circuits). As such Beedee's hair and lips are usually the same shade of blue as her owner's hair, and the clothing worn from the same fashion tastes as her owner (who thinks of buying clothing for Beedee much as a female human child might "play dress up" with a doll).

Beedee's function is to act as hostess/stewardess for the Destiny Ascendant when Dani is otherwise occupied and as an attendant for her when required. She is amiable and friendly, and moves with imitated grace (for a droid) although she is neither particularly strong or agile, and should not be expected to go much further than expected for attendant duties.
