Appearance
Elizabeta cuts a notable figure that lingers in the memory well after she has gone. Although she is considered Barovian, her family comes from Teufeldorf which was a part of Gundarak before the great conjunction, and the Gundarakite influence in her family is notable. She is tall for a woman, being taller than most men especially in Barovia, and long, slightly-wavy, near-black hair common in Gundarakites but less so than in Barovia. She has clear blue eyes and olive skin and most people would describe her as highly beautiful. A lifetime of active training and a heroic lifestyle only add a perfect physique to this, strong and athletic, though not bulky.
Most of the time, Elizabeta is observed wearing her iconic mithral armour, which is patterned in iconography resembling the Mists, along with the holy symbol of Ezra. The armour is tougher than steel but lighter, making it less bulky than conventional plate armour, and its custom and exquisite design makes her look as impressive as it does formidable. The silvery armour is worn over black chain, leather and padding. Usually carried on her back and removed only where there is need, she has a large kite shield also made of mithral, with alabaster coating and stones in iconography of the church of Ezra. When placed on her back, the large shield almost appears to be a metallic cloak.
Most of the time, Elizabeta leaves her hair loose and wavy, styling it only when necessary for an event, and even then it is most likely to be some tidier and more elegant form of long and loose. Raised and living for years in Mordent, however, she does tend to usually wear some lipstick and other light make-up. Whilst this may seem unusual to Barovian standards, it would be considered extremely modest compared to the typical heavy cosmetic use common for females in Mordent and Demenlieu and other domains of similar renaissance culture level.
When not in her armour, Elizabeta is typically seen wearing religious robes - a long off-white habit with coif and silvery-accented head veil, a silvery symbol of the Mordent sect of the Cult of Ezra on her chest. Her hair is typically completely hidden under the veil and coif. Whilst it is possible for her to wear the loose habit over her mithral armour, doing so would be obvious and normally only done if she is performing some form of guard or military duty for the church but wants to appear less militaristic. Most of the time, she is usually unarmoured whilst wearing her robes.
On the rare occasion there is a need to wear something more elegant, Elizabeta has a dress that was made for her by Dominique after the latter friend discovered with horror that Elizabeta had no such clothing. Considering the frequency that Dominique drags her and Audrey to social events, the dress is likely to get considerable usage. The dress was designed with a pattern and colouration to represent mists, as a nod to her faith. Ironically, Elizabeta's powerful figure is more notable whilst wearing this dress than when she is armoured, as her muscular form is more exposed to the sight than under layers of armour.
She is virtually never seen without her most prized possession, the "Blade of Ezra" - a mithral longsword that has been enchanted with divine magic and is capable of affecting incorporeal beings. Whilst the blade is new and made of mithral, the pommel and hand guard are from the original sword used by the Mistwarden Marcus, who died to save her life. This way she can carry his memory and legacy with her whenever she slays evil and protects the innocent.
Background
Elizabeta had an uninspiring and traditional life, until fate came for her. Born in Teufeldorf the daughter of a simple farmer, she led a simple but content life. Unfortunately, her family was targeted by the vampiress Lyssa von Zarovich for a dark ritual that would break a curse her uncle Strahd von Zarovich had placed on her, and give her incredible power - enough to be able to defeat her uncle and take over Barovia. Whilst Elizabeta would never learn the truth if her family was randomly picked, or perhaps because there was something special about them - perhaps as her family was originally from Gundarak before it was absorbed into Barovia as part of the Grand Conjunction, and this may have had some mystical quality on their blood. Regardless, she and her family were taken by vampire cultists for the ritual. Her family were slaughtered before her, their blood used as ingredients for the ritual or to wet the hunger of the vampires. She was tied to a sacrificial altar as lamb to the slaughter. Her fate seemed sealed.
And then HE appeared - an old cleric in the armour of a Mistwarden of Ezra. He came glowing with holy light, and the vampires all retreated in fear and pain from his divine power. Elizabeta wondered if an angel or celestial being had come for her. The cleric passed Elizabeta to a young woman in a scarlet riding coat, and with sword and faith held the line, preventing pursuit from the vampires, until the woman carried Elizabeta to her horse, and they rode to safety. From a safe distance, Elizabeta and the scarlet-robed lady watched with horror as the cleric's power was spent and the vampires overpowered him. Knowing that becoming one of them was a fate worse than death for him, the scarlet-robed lady used her musket to end his life, denying the vampires their revenge. Elizabeta didn't learn the name of the man who gave his life for her until some time after his death - Marcus, was his name. And his sacrifice and the vision of his saving her shrouded by divine light touched her very soul and changed her fate.
For awhile, she remained at the cleric's temple-turned-orphanage in Leiksburg but, seeing Elizabeta growing strong in the faith of Ezra, an ally of Marcus arranged for her to be taken to Mordent, where she would be raised and educated as one of Ezra's faithful. The difference between Barovia and Mordent was a shock to Elizabeta, who adapted quite poorly and rarely left the temples and holy places, but did well in her studies. The desire to protect others and fight evil was too strong for her to become an Anchorite, and so she became a Mistwarden - a knight of Ezra - like Marcus before her, dedicating her life to Ezra's praise.
Elizabeta served the church faithfully and successfully, patroling the Mistways, and defending the innocents and travellers against creatures of the Mists and the other horrors of the night. After some years, she was approached by an ally and told of a secret order within the Mordent sect of the Church, calling themselves the Blessed Army of Ezra, and was invited to join. She was told that one of their faithful, a respected cleric named Lacrese had received a vision that the faithful believe came from Ezra herself. In the vision, he was told that the Nevuchar Springs branch of the church, which was growing at an incredible pace, had been infiltrated and was now being corrupted by an infernal being. In the future, the corrupted Nevuchar Springs church would attack and completely destroy the Mordent sect of the church, corrupted into believing they were doing it to save the souls of their Mordent sect brothers, but unknowingly the renegades would be using the conflict to harvest souls for their master. Those in the Mordent sect in the know of Lacrese's vision were building an army of protectors for the Blessed Army to rise up to defend the faithful in a just and holy war when the time came, which would end when the glory of Ezra banishes the foul creature responsible into the Mists forever. Elizabeta joined the Blessed Army without reservation, swearing an oath to protect the secret and give her life in service to the Blessed Army.
Then one day, years later, whilst on a hunt against an evil Mist entity, the prophesized attack began. She fell into a trap set by the renegade Nevuchar Springs branch brethren and would have died, but not for the ghostly appearance of Marcus, returning in death to save her once again. Marcus led her into the mists, and they exited the mists in Barovia, near the Leiksburg orphanage. In confusion, Elizabeta observed and saw herself leave the orphanage with the woman who would train her in the faith, and realised she was in her own past. Her faith unshaken, Elizabeta decided that Ezra, through Marcus, must have brought her to this time and place for a reason. With her faith strong, she headed towards Leiksburg, and her destiny...

Other Notes
Temporal Displacement
Elizabeta was transported by the mists back over a decade in time to her past. This means that she has lived through events that, to her current timeline, are yet to come. Although Elizabeta has never much cared about politics or world events outside her mission and duties, she nonetheless has at least some gleam into major events and outcomes yet to happen. Will this knowledge prove to be beneficial, or dangerous? Will she choose to let events unfold as they once occurred, or will she choose to interfere and change the outcome? May that be the reason the Mists sent her to the past, to correct some calamitous event that will go wrong? Elizabeta does not know, but she believes her being sent to the past is not random, and is guided by a divine hand. She just has to learn what the divine hands wants with her. And once this is done, will she be sent back to her time or remain where she is?

Combat Style
Elizabeta has been well-trained as a knight. Her primary weapon is her longsword, which is deadly in itself but she can call on her divine bond with the Mists to have Mist-essence fill the sword and empower it further, either for increased power or giving it alternate effects. Against one creature she may enhance her sword with mystical flames, and against another she might make the edge keener to increase her chance of getting grievous wounds. She can only do this a limited amount of times daily, and for a limited period, but this short period greatly empowers her melee ability.
She is strong and tough, and combined with her mithral armour and shield, is virtually impervious to the attacks of most common threats and bandits, with only the most skilled warriors and dangerous threats likely to be a serious threat to her in melee combat. Her reliance on heavy armour, not common in the more cultural domains, limits her speed and reaction, however, making her more vulnerable to ranged attacks, emphasising her need to rely on her shield for protection as she closes in on her targets.
Elizabeta carries a heavy crossbow but is reluctant to use it. She prefers the skill and honour of melee combat but is no foot, some targets deliberately try to keep their distance, or may fly and attack in swoops, and her crossbow can be essential in these situations. Reloading the crossbow can be time-consuming and require her to drop her guard, however, so it is rare she uses her crossbow for protracted periods and is most likely to use it as an opening volley as she closes in for melee combat.
Against some supernatural threats, she is even more deadly, having a range of special abilities to call on - empowering her weapons with holy power to smite evil, and channelling energy to harm the undead, evil outsiders, or Mist creatures.
