== Background ==
When Bastet spent time as a spy in France during the German occupation, she found she liked it and returned occasionally. On one such occasion she met Pierre Collard and eventually bore him a daughter; and a son a few years later. Kitty's mother left them when she was eight years old (Kitty believes for another man) and she became close to her father and brother; although he drifted away from her father during this time, making Kitty a form of middle-person between them. Her father gave her a camera for her birthday when she was twelve, and she fell in love with it. His death in a plane crash a few months later hit her hard. She lived with her grandparents after that, but this time was when she started becoming tough and independent - and her brother started becoming good at "acquiring" things, often getting Kitty involved in his "adventures."
