Adrianne's father was a mafia boss who had an affair with a striking mafia courtesan, who disappeared soon after only to reappear a year later with child. She did not remain long before disappearing again, leaving the child in his care. Adrianne grew up in luxury and never had want for anything, until a rival boss succeeded in arranging a hostile takeover. As common for the greek mafia, the rival sent others to eliminate Adrianne as well (knowing that she would otherwise seek vengeance).

As this was occurring, Adrianne's mother appeared to her, informing Adrianne of her father's murder and the truth of her heritage, then gifting her with her birthrights. When the would-be assassins arrived they found Adrianne ready and vengeful and willing to make them the first (but certainly not the last) people she would send to Hades. In the aftermath, Adrianne painted the town red on a streak of retribution which resulted in dozens of deaths, ending only with the not-so-quick death of her father's rival. It was then expected that she would assume her father's position as boss, but surprised everyone by instead walking away and leaving Olympia. Since then Adrianne has kept fringe connections with the Mafia and other organised crime elements, but has become highly specific about which contracts she takes on - selecting jobs based on a criteria only she seems to understand. In the criminal underworld she operates under the name Athanasia.

* '''Theta Choker:''' Adrianne wears a black leather neck choker with a silver adornment of the Greek letter Θ (Theta) which allows her to access the Death Purview as well as to fill victims with terrifying visions of the dead that haunt them for several days.
